A mixture of methyl 5-(3-methoxy-3-oxopropyl)tetrahydrofuran-2-carboxylate (3 g, 17.4 mmol) and H4OCO H2 (2.65 g, 34.9 mmol) in MeOH (20 mL) was stirred at 25C for 2 h.
