Following the addition of electrophiles to the carbene carbon between the nitrogen atoms of the imidazolylidene, the addition of potassium HMDS initiates an intermol. rearrangement leading to products functionalized on the unsaturated carbon atoms. These results provide also a new light on the formation of abnormal carbene adducts from classical unsaturated NHCs.
