The resulting clear solution was stirred 15 min at room temperature, after which 2-(3- bromopropoxy)tetrahydro-2H-pyran (5.05 g, 22.6 mmol) was added dropwise. The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 6 h, diluted with CH2CI2 (75 ml.) and washed with brine (2 x 50 ml_), dried (MgSO4) and evaporated. It was used as such in the following step.
